In an exhibition curated by Dr. Dieter Buchhart, in collaboration with Fondation Louis Vuitton, The Brant Foundation reconnects the work of Jean-Michel Basquiat with the East Village – the very spot he made his creative playground in the 1970s and 80s. Thirty years after his death, Basquiat’s ability to challenge social inequalities and institutionalized racism with pieces like Arroz con Pollo (1981) and Hollywood Africans (1983), makes this exhibition feel more timely than ever.

Having taken us behind the scenes in a Spring 2021 preview video at Tod’s Studio in the small Italian town of Brancadoro, creative director Walter Chiapponi will now be following up this online preview with a further digital release of the Spring-Summer 2021 collections. Prada launches their Re-Nylon collection exclusively at Selfridges flagship store for the #ProjectEarth initiative. The sustainable collection promotes the use of eco fabrics and fibres, sourced from recycled plastics, discarded fishing nets and other ocean waste. As part of the launch, CUBICLE founder Shini Park will be a resident illustrator, interacting with customers for on-demand live drawing service that will be etched onto a Prada metal water bottle.

This summer, lifestyle magazine Kinfolk heads to Seoul for a month-long exhibition celebrating the beauty of home. Featuring the work of French Modernist designers such as Jean Prouvé and Charlotte Perriand, At Home with Kinfolk looks at the multifaceted nature of the home as a place of sanctuary, of memory, and even of artistic expression.

In a short film featuring a panoply of artists from across the creative disciplines, Bottega Veneta creative director Daniel Lee and London based filmmaker Tyrone Lebon have come together to reflect on the question: “What makes a man today?” The result is a tenderly captured meditation on the intersection between masculinity and fashion, with an emphasis on the importance of personal expression.

Simon Porte Jacquemus followed up last year’s lavender-field phenomenon with another catwalk show that swiftly went viral. The L’Amour collection (dedicated to the hard-working Jacquemus team) was presented in front of 100 socially distanced guests, in a dreamy wheat field one hour from the centre of Paris. Models walked the 600m wooden runway wearing a romantic assemblage of soft whites, beiges, navy, greys and pastels, with details of Picasso motifs and structured cut-outs.

Prada focused on simplicity and longevity for its most uncomplicated collection yet, Multiple Views SS21, which used technological fabrics both to innovate everyday silhouettes and to simplify couture shapes. In a new, co-creative approach, five global style leaders and image-makers were asked to share their personal interpretations of Prada through individual films, giving various takes on the Prada man and woman.

In a 12-hour live stream from the Palazzo Sacchetti in Rome, Gucci takes us behind the scenes of their Epilogue collection. Epilogue marks the dénouement of creative director Alessandro Michele’s three-part ‘fairy tale’, described as a ‘trilogy of love’ – a radical break away from fashion’s traditional rules and a move towards a more liberated mode of creative production. Watch the on-site crew turning Michele’s vision into reality – a process that promises to be just as mesmerising as the final product.

On 22 July, Dior will broadcast its 2021 Cruise show live and direct from Lecce’s resplendent Piazza del Duomo. The decision to host the show in the Puglia region, homeland of creative director Maria Grazie Chiuri, and one of the areas worst affected by the Covid-19 crisis, was a deliberate one to help promote economic regrowth and highlight the region’s tradition of fine craftsmanship.
