CHANEL unveils the Fall-Winter 2020/21 Haute Couture collection by Virginie Viard, captured by Mikael Jansson at the Studio at 31 rue Cambon, Paris. Featuring models Adut Akech and Rianne Von Rompaey in some of the finest CHANEL jewels, the Fall-Winter 2020-21 collection radiates scintillating opulence and is said to be inspired by the eccentric ladies (‘a punk princess’ as Viard notes) that would accompany Karl Lagerfeld to ‘Le Palace’.

Photographers have been feeling the pinch more than most in 2020, but that doesn’t mean that we have to put our passions aside. One man doing his bit to keep the community alive and kicking is London-based photographer and CUBICLE’s own lighting technician, Nathan Scott. With photo labs closed for the meantime, Nathan offers 35mm dev-and-scan from his home. As a bonus, anyone who recommends his service to a fellow analogue shooter using #DEVandSCANJune, gets a free roll of film for themselves and a friend! It’s not all doom and gloom, after all.

Black Panthers, 1968

Filmed in 1968 Oakland, California, Agnès Varda’s Black Panthers documents the Black power movement and the efforts made to free incarcerated political activist Huey Newton. As a non-POC director, Varda demonstrates an awareness of her relative privilege by taking a back seat, and allowing the story to be told by uncut interviews and poignant speeches. Educating its viewers on one of Black history’s most significant moments, Black Panthers is a beautiful film.
